REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITION FOR DIGITAL NOMAD CLASS N WORK PERMIT: KENYA
Immigration series 8
This is permit issued to a person who works remotely within Kenya for a company registered outside Kenya.
Who Qualifies?
- The permit is issued for a period of one (1) or two (2) years renewable to a foreigner who is not a Prohibited Immigrant and who works under an employment contract for a company registered outside Kenya. or
- Is a shareholder or conducts business on behalf of a foreign company. or
- Offers services as a self-employed to clients who are located outside Kenya.
The requirements are:
- Duly filled and signed Form 25;
- Applicant’s two (2) recent passport size-colored photographs (for both new and renewal);
- A copy of applicant’s valid national passport;
- Current Immigration status if in the country (where applicable);
- Detailed and signed cover letter from the applicant addressed to the Director General of Immigration Services stating the nature of employment or business location and duration of stay;
- Signed cover letter from the employer/company/organization addressed to the Director General of Immigration Services;
- Bank Statement/Payslips for the last three (3) months proving monthly income;
- Proof of accommodation i.e., hotel reservation, lease/rental agreement;
- Letter of no objection from local embassy of home country;
- Company details; Physical address, telephone number, email address. Contact person: Name, Job title, telephone and email;
- Applicable processing fee USD 200;
- Applicable government issuance fee USD 1000 per year payable upon approval; and
- Legal fees & VAT on legal fees.
Other permit conditions
- It is an offence for a person to knowingly mislead an Immigration Officer when applying for this permit.
- Incomplete applications shall not be accepted.
- Additional documents may be requested in addition to the list above.
- Where the holder of a work permit ceases to engage in the employment in respect of which the work permit was issued, the employer specified in the work permit shall, within fifteen (15) days from the date of such cessation, report, in writing to the director that the holder has ceased to engage in such employment.
